Hendricks Elementary Physical Education (PE)
The physical education program is based on the following expectations for which all students are held accountable.
SAFETY towards self, others, and equipment is necessary to provide students with a comfortable learning environment.
RESPECT for the feelings and personal space of others is necessary for building of self-esteem and confidence.
SPORTSMANSHIP – focus on encouraging everyone to do well, even if they are playing for the opposite team.
EFFORT – giving your personal best - increases the students' physical fitness, skill development, and success rate.

Every lesson is prepared with a focus on meeting the needs of all learners. The goal is to have each student work toward meeting the objective of the lesson and reaching his/her own level of excellence by giving 100% effort.
Students in grades 1-3 receive 60 minutes of P.E. every 6 school days. Students in grades 4-6 receive 80 minutes of P.E. every 6 school days. Students must have a doctor's note to be excused from P.E. All students receive a report card grade for behavior and skill development.
INTRAMURAL SPORTS are offered to all fourth, fifth, and sixth graders before school between 7:35 - 7:55 a.m. The focus is on participation and sportsmanship. Each sport is played for nine weeks or one quarter of the school year. The following sports take place throughout the school year in the following order: Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Wiffleball.
INTER-DISTRICT SPORTS are offered throughout the school year after school to fifth and sixth graders (except Cross country which is open to all 2nd – 6th grade students). Games against other Flowing Wells Schools are scheduled to enable the students to compete in a positive and sportsmanlike manner. The following sports take place over the course of the year in the following order: Girls Volleyball, Co-ed Cross Country, Flag Football, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball.
