J. Robert Hendricks News

Welcome back Hawk Families,

We begin the 2016-17 school year as a continuing “A+ School of Excellence!” Our staff and students work hard each day to excel academically.

Our staff celebrates Mrs. Vanessa Schiess as our teacher of the year. Mrs. Schiess is an innovative teacher and a leader on our staff. She is a committed teacher and builds relationships with our student, parents and teaching staff.

School begins on Thursday, August 11th at 7:55 am. Reminder doors open at 7:30 am with breakfast. Students will report to the playground to line up with classes not to the classroom. School is dismissed at 2:10 pm.

Remember not to park your car along Orange Grove road in the dirt. These are posted “No Parking.”

Look what’s happening in August:

August 10 - 3-4 pm - Open House - Stop by and see your child’s classroom
August 11 - 7:55 am - First day of school
August 16 - 2:30 pm - PTO meeting in the volunteer room
August 18 - 5-5:45 pm Kindergarten Parent Curriculum Night
6-6:45 pm 1st – 3rd Grade Parent Curriculum Night
7-7:45 pm 4th - 6th Grade Parent Curriculum Night

Don’t forget to sign up 1st – 6th graders for our afterschool Skills for Success program. All students participating will need to fill out the registration packet and return it to Mrs. Tammy Butler at school. Skills begins the 3rd week of school. Watch for sign up packet in your child’s backpack.

We welcome Mrs. Lizmary DeCoo Pumarol to our Touchbase resource team. She will be half time at Hendricks and Richardson. Ms. Ashlee Barnette joins Mrs. Lehman in 5th Grade, replacing Mrs. Montoya, who joined Flowing Wells High School Math department. Ms. Kaitlyn Dennis is our new 2nd Grade teacher replacing Mrs. Jech, who moved to NYC. Ms. Laurine Maestas will join our staff as AM crossing guard and TAII in Second Base with Ms. Monica. Welcome new hawks!

We are looking forward to another great year at Hendricks where we stand by the 3 R’s – Respect, Responsibility and Relationships. If there is ever anything I can do for you contact me at 696-8401 or [email protected].

Hawks are A+ Strong,
